Korcett: Log Call

You should only use the Log Call feature in Salesforce to add your completed note template.  Do not use any of the other features to add your notes such as Email, Post, Change Status, or Equipment Request.

If you are able to resolve the customer’s issue, set the status of the case to Solved.  Then be sure to always use the Log Call feature to add your notes.
