Secure: https://secure.txdps.state.tx.us/DpsWebsite/index.aspx
Overview:
CRS Public Websites:
- Computerized Criminal History (CCH) database (public records)
- Sex Offender Registry (SOR) search
- Links to stuff we don’t do (HEAT, TRIP, main DPS website, etc)
- Does NOT have driver’s license or driving records
Available for all who want to use it:
- Individuals (variety of reasons)
- Some businesses
- Some government entities
- Note: Anyone CAN use it, but we are not able to say if it should be used for any specific purpose
The Secure Website is similar, but:
- The Secure Website may display non-public information, depending on the user’s account and the record being viewed.
- Secure Website is only for “legislatively authorized entities” (listed on main CCH page).
- We can’t tell them if they qualify. If they have questions about eligibility, send them to DPS.
- Applications for access must be approved by DPS.
- Some entities might be required to use the Secure Website.
- Search entry page might be different, depending on the account.
- Secure Website has the batch upload feature, Public Website does not.
- Secure Website has link to government login page for services we do not support (HEAT, TRIP, SOR updating for criminal justice users).
Impact Texas Teen Drivers
Our support duties are extremely limited. We don’t do password resets or anything with their account(there is a password reset form on the login page).
The only thing we do is verify the website is working and videos will play.
- Try playing a video yourself to see if the website is broken. Use this login info to sign in:
https://impacttexasteendrivers.dps.texas.gov/
User name: Fake-email@microassist.com
Password: Fakepass!!23
… then click on “Course Overview”, then click on “Lesson 1” to play that video. - If it works, tell them, “The website appears to be working when I test it. It may be a compatibility problem with the web browser or device you are using. Try to access it from a different web browser, phone, or computer.”
- If the videos DON’T play when you test it, tell them, “The website does not seem to be working, I will report it to a programmer.” Then email Carl (cpaulsen@microassist.com) and CC management@cwxtx.com to keep the management team in the loop.

We get multiple calls on the following: password requirements and registration questions, permission errors (caller signed in with a DPS account but did not register for course), general questions and navigation of site, etc. Many of these are simple to help with. If our scope is only testing the videos and recommending a different web browser or refer back to that DPS dept, we will need scripting in CARE and we will have a lot of upset parents that we can’t answer basic questions. If we can do more, please update CARE, for QA grading, etc.
